Weekly Update 11/28/2017

Hello Jr Warriors families!

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We did our annual Turkey Trot at practice on Sunday and the kids all did an amazing job with the challenge. The 6&unders swam 10 x 25s, the 7/8s swam 25 x 25s, the 9/10s swam 25 x 50s, and the 6th/7th/8th graders swam 50 x 50s. It is a fun tradition! Read on for news for this week.

Swimmers of the Week – This week’s swimmers of the week are Alison Crovella, Joss O’Heron and Maddie Genis. Alison is one of our 6&unders. During the Turkey Trot on Sunday, Alison was really enthusiastic about the challenge and powered her way through the 25s. She did an excellent job working hard and all with a smile on her face. Joss and Maddie are 6th graders and so they “graduated” to the 50 x 50s for the Turkey Trot. The two persevered swimming all fifty 50s without complaining, sitting out, or taking a break. They both worked really hard and had great attitudes along the way. Congratulations Alison, Joss and Maddie!! You are true examples of hard work, perseverance and great attitudes…real team players!

Upcoming Meets – Just a reminder that there is no meet Saturday. Our next meet is Saturday, Dec. 9th.

Meet Results – Results from our meets can be found on the website (www.waylandjw.com) under the “WJW Swimmers” tab.

Focus of the Week – This week we continue our focus on backstroke, particularly the turns and finishes. Ask your kids about it!

Pool Area – The high school team began its practices yesterday, so the pool area will be a bit busier as we begin practice every Tuesday and Thursday with the high school swimmers finishing up their practices. You will see many of our coaches in the water!

Team Backpacks Available – Several of you have inquired about ordering WJW backpacks. Varsity Swim Shop has reopened the online ordering window for backpacks only. We need a minimum of six backpacks ordered to make this work. The window will only be open until midnight this Friday, Dec. 1st so please get your orders in by then. The ordering instructions are below.

That is it for this week!
